To be the moon that shines ever so bright
Guiding you safely home each night
I would love to be your guardian angel
The one that sings your soul to sleep
And I would do anything to be your love
But if for some reason I can’t be

Would that they were fiery,
My enemies like your dragon,
And not the icy cold fingers
That gnaw and the dream that I was.
Would that the sun shone for me,
That I were antagonist fierce and free and young
Rather than whisper and hint of suggestion.
Would that home were the anchor,
That the moonlight upon should glint
And persevere for eternity,
Mocking contrast to the blink that is life.
