Using a prompt by Twindaddy a blogger I’ve known for a very long time. What is your oldest memory?

Walking with baby fat legs
Words hadn’t come yet
It was a strange house
A woman changed my diaper
Gymnastics was on tv
Or something sporty and blue
Front door was open
Old screen door closed
The sky was yellow
It made the world yellow
My first memory
Was of living in Tornado Alley

Yikes. I’ve never been near a tornado. That I know of…
I can see why that would stick with you.

It was my first memory. I remember telling my mom about it and she said there was a tornado that night. Strong enough only to rip off the awnings some houses used to have. I don’t remember anything but the yellow light.
I’ve been through several since then and many of the bad ones were south of me. I’ve helped people look for valuables after a tornado wiped away their neighborhood. Lost some friends to them. They are beautiful to watch but scary to get caught in.

The part of the country I’m in is pretty boring, but we rarely have tornadoes, no hurricanes, and no earthquakes. I’ll take it.

Growing up in Florida, and now living in Texas I know the feeling of a tornado or one in the area. And as you stated a beautiful thing (all weather is really) but scary to get caught in or be the victim of.

Growing up in the Midwest, tornado season was a watchful time. Some did come fairly close, an that color of sky was a warning.
