Words itch and claw
Surfacing vague
Into consciousness
Biting at the edges
Of my thoughts
Something’s wrong
Taps on my shoulder
But I am not listening
Until it begins to feed
Devouring my dreams

And it frightens me
Understanding
Surpasses me
