My poetry prompt for NaPoWriMo and Cheer Peppers is a digital painting I did trying to teach myself digital art.

I met with a friend tonight and I think her soul has the shape and color of beautiful handcrafted pottery.

We see it so much these days

A painful parting of the ways

We put in so much wasted time

Dreaming, creating, building

Just to be left… heartbroken

But you’re a beautiful treasure

A soul formed out of clay

Kneaded and strengthened

By the bullshit you endured

Left to cry every tear to dry

While walking through fire

That ultimately hardened you

Now it’s your turn to shine

Break out of the kiln

And become the work of art

You were always meant to be
