I want things
I’ve never wanted
Or didn’t know I did
Peaceful days
Patient people
Comfortable friends
Content nights
Warm arms to
Fall asleep in
Strong arms to
Support my failings
The dreams I had
Died with youth
My older heart
Just wants to rest
And feel loved
Simple ambitions and sweet.

Beautifully said. But I’d add that, sometimes, the dreams we have within our younger hearts don’t die as much as they are transformed by the wisdom and understanding we gain over time. I speak from experience 😉

Transformed by wisdom for sure. I might not get to be Sally Fields when I grow up but I can definitely visit some pretty lavender fields 🙂

Me too dear friend. I need less in my old age. We learn. Kindness, concern and to listen. We need and we must do. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.
