The picture hangs crooked
Among splinters and knots
The corners a bit scorched
A moment frozen in a frame
Waiting for the smoke to clear
And the shouts to fall silent
Before trying to make peace
Before searching for the time
Where everything went wrong
Where they try too hard to erase
The mistakes that were made
But when they find the picture
They realize the damage done
Because nothing can bring back
The smiles they had undone
Recognizing the feeling – Thanks
