I STOPPED WRITING

PROMPT: All about words

I stopped writing

Because I wanted

To write like them

They were better

Smarter, more clever

And it hurt me

That I wrote like this

Small thoughts

So simplistic

Like a dog

Pissing on hydrants

Here I am

I have words

That mean little

That change nothing

So I stopped writing

Because words

Were all I had

  1. Really loved This, My Dear!! When you write it seems the general advice is to write for yourself and no one else – it’s your voice! Writing is a bit like art that way. If you use your words to paint or portray feelings, emotions, happy, sad, hearbreak and the beauty of nature then that should be enough if you are happy with what you write before comparing it to other – don’t do that! You are you!

There is a wonderful book I love that you may too – https://www.amazon.com/Poemcrazy-Freeing-Your-Life-Words/dp/0609800981/ref=sr_1_5?crid=4LJ8R42QB1I0&keywords=poem+crazy+freeing+your+life+with+words&qid=1667923755&sprefix=%2Caps%2C124&sr=8-5

    It’s a tremendous help for me. 😊💕🌹

  2. I do the same thing. But then I try to remember I’m not supposed to be like them. I’m supposed to write like me… Nobody else. And you’re supposed to write like you. The world needs your voice. That’s why you’re here!🌺🌹🌺
