CALL ME CAPTAIN

Endless moments were given birth
Rippling reflections of the past
Floating effortlessly into my future
Often, I sail back to those moments
That made it into lasting memory
And find those that changed me
Those tidal waves of insecurity
The typhoons that toppled me
Each storm followed by peace
Fashioning a strength that comes
Only from those lessons learned
The times when the wind changed
And carried me way off course
Through rough waters that consumed me
Through endless nights of isolation
Only to find a sea as smooth as glass
And new worlds with new opportunities
Back to the moments when decisions
Rearranged my chartered course
Creating blessings from tragedy

Tick tock – he raped me
But it was his words that damaged me

Tick tock – till death do us part
It was love then it wasn’t

Tick tock- A tumor grew unheeded
But time and science healed me

Tick tock – her first kick
Her first cry, her first laugh

Tick tock – friendships born and born and born
friendships faded, dead and gone

Tick tock – age brings disease
And acquaintances are buried

Tick tock – passing moments
Truth and dishonesty, shipmates

Sailboats waltz
Taking turns together
Dancing through the squalls
Then resting inside the tranquility
This is my ship, this is my sea
And…
In these revealing moments
The rest of the world will
Become the stars I gaze upon
To charter the future path
I will sail upon

  1. This is one of the most beautiful things I have read for a long time. Every word resonated in my spirit in my soul. You have a truly wonderful gift my friend and I thank you for sharing it with me today! I really loved the part that read….

    The typhoons that toppled me

    Only from those lessons learned

    Inspired, loved it 🙂
