Written by C.Burks and Hastywords
Her knuckles were gnarled
Much like that of an aging pine
And her whispers whistled
With a hollow breezy whine
With missing patches of bark
Resembling the scars of life
Tell the tale of an unbroken spirit
Who took everything in stride…
Young eyes would land on her face
With a fearful sympathetic grace
And like a slivered fingernail moon
A half smile accompanied their gaze
Patiently they awaited words of vigor
Knowing sheβd deliver them with rigor
Wisdom that pours slowly into the soul like sap
Unrelenting, unstoppable once it is triggered
Often an overwhelming peace would immobilize them
Found victims having heard her voice, a precious gem
An ageless, charming melody that mystified their sight
Capturing them inside one timeless moment of flight
Their captivated minds forget what first came to this sight
An unnerving elderly woman, defying life’s great fight
Awakened from their trance suddenly, they took a look around
To find the voice they beheld was nowhere to be found
Always the same, lost, dazed, and confused
Tucking the encounter away as simple delirium
But their minds didn’t forget; they utterly refused
Each later recognizing that voice as their own
Thank you sooooo much for the opportunity to write with you.

heheh ah well. I kind of expect these things to happen around poetry sometimes. Maybe I was tired or maybe it was words.
