My scythe in hand,

my mask secured

I set out to play

haunted trickery

on sweet little

sugar seekers

searching for frills.

Tonight I am a dentist,

a bloody dental corpse

hiding as if lifeless

in Hallow Eve’s dark.

I wait to hear the

simple knock-knock

from clever goblins

before I creep, then chase

the little beggars around.

The sound of my heavy

dragging footsteps get lost

beneath costumed screams

and I am happy tonight

with visions of fright

and silly laughter

piercing this darkest

of witching nights.
