WHEN SORROW SMILES

Written by Pharphelonus and Hastywords

When life has knocked you to your knees
Your outlook seared by unrelenting agony
And the future seeming devoid of hope
Clasp your hands and begin to pray
For that’s when sorrow smiles

When you’re helpless to help a friend in need
Your cries seem like unheard pleas
And the future seems to have closed its door
Close your eyes and begin to pray
For that’s when sorrow smiles

When heartache is consuming you
Your gaze into space sees emptiness
And the future seems like a vacant place
Open your heart and begin to pray
For that’s when sorrow smiles

When your tears run dry from swollen eyes
Your own reflection you don’t recognize
And the future feels it swallowed you whole
Bow your head and begin to pray
For that’s when sorrow smiles

When your days you know are winding down
Your deeds yielding to your mortality
And the future is in a heavenly place
Open your mouth and begin to pray
There’s no sorrow now. Just smiles.

  1. Beautiful.

Describes how I was feeling a few months ago as you can read on my blog. Wish I read it then and perhaps some of the anguish I felt wouldn’t have seemed so bad. However I’m smiling more now.
