Written by Primal Night’s and HastyWords
His heart melted as he spoke of contrition
The hasty words which wounded her so deeply
Clung to him with the smell of cowardice
As he, suffering, struggled to mend them.
She listened as his words began to crash
Twisting into a mass confusion of remorse
My tears welled into pools of forgiveness
That he wouldn’t, said he couldn’t accept
His hands trembled as he composed himself
His mouth dry, his heart beating wildly
As the love poured out of his very bones
Distilling his words into simple vows
It was tough to observe the man she adored
Fight his impulsively errant nature all alone
Her love was like an ocean of healing water
He kept refusing to dive into, refusing to taint
He listened and suddenly found himself quiet
His speaking had ended and his mouth was dry
Nothing was left within the frame that was a man
He had spoken until he was done, now he listened
She listened to everything he confessed, pledged
Saw the remorse flow from every wounded pore
When his waking eulogy ended she stepped slow
She held his face, held his eyes with hers and cried
“I love you… if you still love me!”
