I stood still
Invisibly quiet
A bystander
A witness
To an atmosphere
Gaining tension
Not me, no way
It wouldn’t be me
Tipping the scale
The precarious needle
Into the red territory
Crimson delicacy
Marking danger
Overloaded
Overheated
Over the limit
Voices were angry
And so very loud
Eyes were enraged
Focused and wide
Yet unseeing
And very unkind
Fists were shaking
Veins were popping
And then the toddlers
Were told
It was nap time
I could use a nap.

Delightful twist at the end – left me thinking how often much bigger toddlers need to be told it is nap time.

Lovely twist 😀 There was a joke out the other day, a cartoon one, in which the parent told their kid off for something, then the kid denied doing it WHILST doing it, and the parent realised he was raising a politician. Similar scenario happened here the other day with Niece and Grandma lol. I think Niece could go far…
