AND I WILL BE NEW

I wrote this in April 2015 but it feels appropriate for today.  See you next in 2016.

Hasty

c40bbff6After all the kicking
And our bones
Are finished breaking

After all the cutting
And our souls
Are finished carving

After all the crying
And our tears
Are finished shedding

After all the burning
And our bodies
Are finished dying

Your name branded
Deep into my skin
I’ll follow my heart
And discard my sins
Surviving this fall
To fly once again

And I will be new
And I will be love

Thank you Lizzi for adding to this piece.

Then there will be peace
And our hearts
Can begin healing

Then there will be hope
And our minds
Can begin thinking

Then there will be freedom
And our souls
Can begin enjoying

Then there will be sunshine
And our selves
Can begin LIVING

Your name is embossed
In the cells of my skin
I can’t count all the ways
You and I are akin
We can fly; we can fly
My friend, let us begin

And we will be new
And we will be love

  4. Words from a song:
    “We’ve all been given
    Another new morn.
    There are poems to write
    And songs to sing”
[Bonnie Kolock, “Another New Morn” – Alas, the on-line track with the title plays the wrong song.]

Two friends and a conversation in verse celebrating change and growth and love. So beautiful!

  5. Poetry, full of years of experience,
    heart-break and blood-shed
and a taste of anger with a sprinkle of pain..

    Bringing it all together,

    creating agape love…
