UNENDING LOVE

I still believe in the magic of true love.

IMG_8099 Ice crystals formed

White lace spiders

Spelling out her name

The house was dark

The windows dirty

Residents long gone

She came to the house

Decades ago a child

Abandoned

At the age of three

Just another mouth to feed

She came here

Met the man of her dreams

He was handsome

A boy of four with salty blonde hair

And eyes a grassy meadow green

The orphanage kept them well

They hid from adults

Looking to rescue them

They were in love

No other place would feel like home

They grew up and married

Had beautiful kids of their own

He was her soul mate

The man for which her heart was made

Since his death she visits

On Valentine’s day each year

The window of this old house

When cold and frosty

She could still see his love

Written so long ago

On a foggy plane of glass

Her name next to his

Signed with the shape of a heart

  2. One of the things I do is travel overseas and help facilitate adoptions for people in Russia, Haiti, the Philippines etc. that’s what this reminded me of. Very nice.

  5. What jumped out at me was the clarity of the story you have woven through your verse.

As she stared at the frosted and dirty glass, what she ” saw” was what she chose to see I guess.

    Loved it!

  6. Wonderful and apt use of the personification of the relationship as not just a house, but a window on the world that they shared. Utterly haunting and so perfect in every detail. Great poetry.
